The power is mine

As of yesterday, I’m more or less caught up on all the links I bookmark for blogpost. Now we’ll see if I can stay current.
•Slacktivist looks at the challenges in filming Jackie Robinson’s biopic. Will we reinvent him the way we like to reinvent Martin Luther King?
•A Tennessee bill not only bans talk about homosexuality but requires school personnel to out anyone who admits to being gay and closeted (for the students own good, naturally).
•Try, try again: NM Rep. Cathrynn Brown’s attempt to push a bill prosecuting rape victims for getting abortions failed. Now she’s proposing the same bill, but targeting doctors instead.
•The argument that women should be anti-war and therefore should oppose women in combat doesn’t hold up, according to Amanda Marcotte. Other bad objections here.
•Why the economy is better off with more people in unions.
•The NCAA gets flak because of a college-sports booster (accused of providing “gifts” to various star athletes). Their solution: Try to learn confidential information from his bankruptcy attorney. Taylor Branch gives the NCAA more flak last year.
•The Consumerist looks at the problems with debt collectors.
•The 21st century house, as imagined in 1967. The Consumerist adds some commentary.
•A story of greed, financial struggle and maple syrup.
