Curious

There’s a lot of information out on the TV series I Led Three Lives, and as you know, I’ve read the book. Yet there’s nothing I can find about the movie.

I have enough anti-communist films covered (and I’ve seen a few episodes of the show) that I don’t see a huge problem, but still, Herb Philbrick was a prominent enough “professional witness” against Communism to make me wish I could see a copy.

Another problem: I’ve been reading lots of spy-movie books to check for films I might have missed. I’ve come up with several that seem sure things—Fighting Youth, in which dirty ratfink Commies try to corrupt a college football team—but there are so many where it’s hard to tell from a synopsis, and that makes my sense of my boundaries a bit blurry (and if they get to blurry, this will start to feel like a generic book about spy films). And I don’t want to shell out more on DVDs (or for some films, VHS) than I have to, especially since securing photos will cost quite a bit.

Once I have Espionage Filmography (a very good reference work from McFarland) covered, I may stop that side of my research until I sort out what I’ve already got.
