I know I blogged about wine labels Wednesday but I figured I’d save these three matching labels for today.

As with so many labels, I’m not sure the mustache and glasses scream Drink Me. But then we get this one—

Here we do indeed have the mustache hidden. But then there’s the third photograph—

Am I right the woman’s glasses are the hidden mustache? Or is it so hidden we can’t see it? Also this is the first time I noticed the label catchphrase, “I mustache you a question.”

Title riffs on Orson Welles’ commercials for Paul Masson wine. Because yes, it’s another wine label photography post.

I’m puzzled how that image suggests “Bodyguard” or for that matter wine. Though it is pretty.

This one looks very vineyard though it’s also less memorable.

This one is more memorable but again, what’s the connection between storm spirits and wine?

My favorite of this week’s labels, though I’m not sure “Rabble” really screams Drink Me. Nor do I see the kind of mob scene I’d associate with Rabble on the label.

I’m aware that trademarks and logos have to be distinctive and non-obvious — a winemaker has no rights to a generic name like Good Red Wine, for instance. While I’m sure these labels are distinctive, I’m not sure they scream Drink Me. For example, “Pessimist”

It’s a great looking label but what’s the message? If the guy under the tree drunk the wine, he’d be an optimist? It feels more like it’s associating the wine with despair than with its cure.

Pipe-smoking deer is also an odd choice for a spokes-animal.

Is anyone drinking wine for justice? Still, it’s a better association than pessimism.

Is Pandemonium a good association either? I can’t say the art grabs me.

And this one … I’ve no idea what it’s trying to do.
