Right-wing pundit Matt Walsh is a raging woman-hater who constantly provides fresh material for blog posts. There’s his support for the great replacement theory and his enthusiasm for arranged marriages with no divorce. He’s freaked out by (and completely misunderstanding, unless he’s lying) pansexuals. Now it seems he’s also keen on men hooking up with young women: at “about 16, you’re an adult who is mature and can make decisions — you are that at 16. I don’t care what anybody says.”
Like most of Walsh’s views this is not unique to him; right winger Josiah David Moody thinks women should have married the boyfriend they had when they were sixteen.Nick Fuentes thinks ages of consent are bad, period: marry them off as soon as they can breed. I’m guessing that like Walsh’s vision of arranged marriages, Fuentes has no interested in the women getting a say in their partner.Walsh, however, stands out for having a thing about diapers …
Walsh’s fellow professional female misogynist, Candace Owens, declared recently that ” that virtually every societal ill that we are facing today is because of women” and how they respond too quickly to emotional arguments (another Undead Sexist Cliche). Oh, and that Moody guy brags about forcing his vegetarian wife to eat a cheeseburger — and yes, he means forced.
Speaking of force, shitbag Nick Fuentes joins the shitbags who says it’s not rape if your husband rapes you
Dennis Prager, who thinks it’s outrageous that wives don’t have sex with their husbands if they don’t want to is now providing right-wing educational videos to Florida schools, never mind Ron DeStalinist’s pretense he opposes indoctrinating kids. As Media Matters details, this includes such insights as equating climate change deniers with Jewish resistance to the Nazis. The article doesn’t show much sexist content but I’m sure Prager will get to that. Oh, the course material also explains how Black Lives Matter totally distorts what wonderful people cops are.
That leads into the “racist” part of this post, focusing on Ron DeSantis’ new Florida educational standards claiming that slavery taught blacks useful skills. Unsurprisingly a lot of Republicans have chimed in to support DeSantis, for example Erick Erickson who’s shocked presidential candidate Tim Scott thinks “there is nothing redeeming about slavery.”
There isn’t. As Jamelle Bouie says, “Slaves were owned as chattel by other human beings who stole their freedom, labor and bodily autonomy. To say that any more than a fortunate few could “parlay” their skills into anything that might improve their lives is to spin a fiction.” In another column, Bouie argues the point about slave skills isn’t totally irrelevant — many slavery opponents cited it to show black Americans were not just dumb brutes — but the context matters and DeSantis’ stooges get it wrong. No surprise when one of the “scholars” who drafted them is outraged by the idea “there is systemic racism, institutional racism, white privilege.”
Shakezula says DeSantis protesting the standards have been distorted shows why he can’t beat Trump: “The Republican base doesn’t want wishy-washy whining about truth, lies and siding with Vice President Harris. They want someone to say chattel slavery was good, Black people should be thankful and joke about bringing it back. They want threats, they want slurs.”
Speaking of wrong, let’s not forget Curtis Yarvin, advocate for dictatorship, who argues that freeing the slaves by “the War of Secession” didn’t benefit anyone, not even slaves.
Meanwhile, over in Texas, A&M hired a black woman to revive the journalism program. Well-connected rich people freak out because she’s “a Black woman who worked at The New York Times.‘”
Underlying all of this, columnist Paul Waldman says, is anti-antiracism, the belief that “we must stop talking and thinking about racism, and most of all we must stop trying to do anything about racism.” I would say anti-antimisogyny is a big part of the Republican platform too, otherwise no argument.
And just to cover one more form of hate, RFK, who recently declared covid was engineered to spare Jews, is getting more openly antiSemitic.
