A moment of zen (#SFWApro)

“Those who understand the tao delight, like cats, in just sitting and watching without any goal or result in mind. But when a cat gets tired of sitting, it gets up and goes for a walk or hunts mice. It does not punish itself or compete with other cats in an endurance test as to how long it can remain immovable—unless there is some real reason for being still, such as catching a bird.”—Alan Watts

I like this quote. It captures what I was talking about here, the state of mind where I’m only sitting and working because I’m supposed to be sitting and working, not because I’m actually accomplishing anything. Where in Screwtape’s words I’m doing neither what I want nor what I should. Better by far when I’m in that mood to stop pseudo-working and just relax.
