Okay, I did lose a little time at the start of the week because we took the Plush One in for his checkup (more on that later). But after that it was me. Well, mostly. After all, a couple of hours a day dealing with dogs does still take up time.
In brief, I took on what I thought would be a fairly quick job. It wasn’t. Nothing terribly complicated, it’s the kind of list of basic information that reporters get to do plenty of over the year (where the schools are, the polling places, popular restaurants, etc.). But this particular job involved a lot of information. A lot. And there wasn’t really one good place to get it, so I had to keep Googling, clicking on links, checking, copying and pasting information … as I’m not gifted with super-speed, this took a while.
But it’s finally done today, subject to any fact-checks or rewrites needed. So yay. Still, it will make this week less profitable than I thought (no fault of anyone’s but mine).
Now, as to the checkup, that was unadulterated good news. Plushie is healed and off crate rest. Well, mostly, we don’t want him pushing it so we keep him crated a lot. But TYG and I can snuggle with him on the couch, or the bed, or sit in the pen with him without worrying we’ll make him strain to the injury point. Though we’re largely keeping him and Trixie separate because together they get a lot livelier. However we let them grapple and play and hump each other this afternoon and they get along fine.
So big yay!!!!! I’m looking forward to seeing how I manage the dogs during the day once he’s fully off crate rest, as that will hopefully be the status quo for a while. Will they play with each other and leave me out of it? Or will I have double the demands on my attention? Will one get jealous when I play with the other? How long will it take to crate train them (where they go into the crate and feel like it’s home, not a punishment)?
Time will tell.
