Men who shoot women

Annoyingly I can’t find the link to the best observation I’ve seen about the Elliot Rodgers killing spree. Whoever it was pointed out that a)Rodgers made a video declaring his plans to go on a killing spree; b)he went on a killing spree.
He wasn’t a crazy guy who just suddenly snapped.
He wasn’t detached from reality to the point he couldn’t plan or carry out a plan.
His views of women, as strangely blogged points out, are not some weird delusion born of insanity—they’re quite common among men’s rights/pick-up artist/incel (involuntary celibate) groups. Nor are they result of women refusing to sleep with him (as I noted some months back about other cases)
And if he’d been a Muslim extremist, or someone blowing up a synagogue, and made a video, the focus would have been on his ideology, not his mental health. And it should be here, despite some people insisting there’s no connection.
For more comments on the shooting, there’s Defeating the Dragons and Jezebel. Amanda Marcotte discusses the obsession some guys have with the Friend Zone.
•While it’s not directly related to Rodgers, it does feel appropriate to include this: If you’ve heard about a study that “proves” women are gold-diggers—they have more orgasms with a rich partner—the original researchers say they were wrong.
