Have I mentioned how much I love my bed?

It’s amazing how much difference a supportive mattress that I actually sleep on makes. I’ve had so many nights of good sleep I was able to stay out late Tuesday with the writer’s group and still arise at my normal working hour Wednesday. I haven’t tried that in a while (but much as I enjoyed the cheesy fries, they were definitely not worth $10. Next time, I read the menu first!).
This week was all about the rewrite of Impossible Takes a Little Longer. It went well up until the end, then I started to find places where reworking it proved difficult. Which I’d expected—the major changes come at the end when All Is Revealed—but there were a couple of chapters I’d thought would be easy and weren’t.
The challenges involve making the villain’s motive consistent (the big flaw in the previous draft according to all my beta-readers) and making sure none of the exposition bogs down the story. I think I’ve got them whipped, but I’m waiting unti next week to finish up so I have time to sleep on it.
I also got a little feedback on Peace With Honor, which confirmed some of my doubts. I’ll work on that one a little next week, before posting it for the writing group.
On top of that, books are shelved through the N’s, and I’m starting to catch up with all the little odds and ends I do that got dropped the past few months (practicing sign language, practicing dancing—generally physical stuff that lets me use different parts of my brain). I even took part of lunch to bake bread (kugelhopf, a sweet, cake-like bread from Germany) which I haven’t done in a while.
I also faced up to the fact my schedule just doesn’t permit me to browse blogs the way I used to, so I’m beginning to RSS-feed to follow them instead. I prefer web-surfing to getting posts in email (no logical reason, just taste) but email will have to do.
Next month, I will start trying to add some work time and get a little more productive. But for now, I’m good.
