A couple of updates/corrections

First, regarding Rick Santorum‘s abortion-kills-Social Security bilge: Echidne points out that he’s wrong about the percentage of pregnancies that end in abortion, and wrong about the assumption this lowers the number of kids: The majority of women are choosing to delay childbearing, not avoid it. I would be fine if they were avoiding it (and I’m certain Echidne is too), the point is that therefore it’s not gutting the supply of workers.
Second, regarding how some people fail to register differences in how women and men experience things, Echidne discusses Bill Maher calling Sarah Palin the C word and the argument that this is just perfectly ordinary name-calling and not in the least bit sexist (sorry Maher but yes, it is).
