First week, 2011

A good kickoff.
As noted yesterday, I made a start on rewriting Brain From Outer Space. Cover Stories, the last Applied Science story, looks almost finished.
Ehow work went pretty well until today, when I sort of ran out of steam. Part of that was because several of the $40 TurboTax stories came in for rewrites and that drew focus.
Plus I have what looks like a very cool assignment from the Raleigh Public Record I’ll tell you about once it’s done.
And then the short stories. Much as I’ve enjoyed Applied Science, one of the reasons I write short stories is to give me some variety along with long-form projects, and now I have time for much more variety again.
I worked on, tinkered with or thought about Leave the World to Darkness, Salad Days, Seven for a Secret and He Does Whatever a Spider Can (title will probably change). With the exception of Seven for a Secret, they all look pretty good.
So I feel pretty good about the weekend. I’m going to relax. I’ve earned it.
