Despite the bread-baking, a good week (#SFWApro)

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy baking bread. I’m good at it. And a potato-rye bred seemed a good way to use up a couple of leftover potatoes (and it was. Very tasty). Unfortunately it was a more demanding recipe than I thought so instead of a spare hour Thursday it took up most of my fiction writing time.
That said, I’m still pleased with the week. Despite falling behind this month, I didn’t throw up my hands and goof off as I often have done, so I only lost a couple of hours of fiction-writing. I even got a little house-cleaning in during the week.
I made my quota of Demand Media articles, plus some fiction:
•I finished one draft of The Fox and the Hedgehog and then completed a second (it has to be in by month’s end).
•I finished what I think is my next to last draft of Fiddler’s Black. If all goes well, I’ll have it done next week.
•I did another draft of The Schloss and the Switchblade. The set-up of having a movie playing with a B plot involving the audience seems to work best out of the approaches that I’ve tried. However I’ve got to have a B-plot, not just “people watching the movie” and commenting. I tried that on another story some years back and if the frame doesn’t have a point (that one didn’t) it doesn’t work.
•I also wrote down a scene I’ve had floating in my head for years, even though I’ve no idea what to attach it to yet.
•Another And column came out, looking at bad arguments by warhawks on Syria.
•I completed the various sign-up procedures for the new gig at Visual.ly. I’m not sure how often anything will develop from this, but once anything goes up on line, I’ll let you know.
Oh, and I made bread.
