(as in “some days you get the bear …”)
I knew going in this would not be quite as profitable or productive as I wanted. I had doctors appointments yesterday and one of my spec assignments to finish. But then the spec assignment took several hours more than I expected.
And then Tuesday, a contractor who’s very hard to get hold of had an opening in his schedule so we had him show up early to replace some moldy siding. And as usual, dealing with unexpected contractors takes a big bite out of my schedule. That made Tuesday way unproductive and Wednesday I just slowed down to a crawl (I’ve been sleeping very poorly this week). Happily I was back up to snuff again today.
What I did get done:
•11 Demand Media articles. Way below my usual but still, it’s income.
•Finished and submitted the second spec project, the real estate one mentioned at the link above.
•The other project, for Visual.ly (a contractor that provide companies with infographics for their websites) was only a test (they don’t use it, I don’t get money for it) but I passed the test. I have to sign up on their site to make myself available for work, then I have a shot at landing some of their infographic jobs. How much income will this translate into? We’ll see. Nice that as I’m paying my bills already, I don’t have to fret about it.
•Based on feedback from my writer’s group (and especial thanks to Sam Collins for her excellent input) I did a lot of rewriting on Fox and the Hedgehog, trimming characters and subplots to focus on the main conflict. I didn’t finish, but I should be ready to tackle the ending Monday.
•And I took care of the estimated taxes, so that’s done for the year—the next payment isn’t due until January.
On that note, have a great weekend.
