Spoilers!

Cover by Nick Cardy.

While I can’t find any source to confirm it, I’d be willing to bet solid cash that the poor, put-upon sister finds love by the end of the story.

Contrary to Styx, I have too little time on my hands

(Title references the song Too Much Time on My Hands for anyone who’s curious). Which is to say Ret-Con’s effect on my weekend schedule means instead of book reviews, it’s a book-cover post today. First one by Ed Emshwiller.

Next, Kelly Freas.

Then this uncredited cover from the days when hunting African animals was considered cool.

And I’ll wrap up with a couple more Emshwiller covers from previous posts.

Some pulp covers, and one paperback

First by HR Van Dongen

Next a cover by Virgil Finlay (I believe) for A. Merritt’s Seven Footprints to Satan.

One of Frank Paul’s science fiction covers.

Robert Stanley provides the cover for a paperback by Raymond F. Jones. Based on a description of the book, the power is that the Genetics Bureau decides who can mate and with whom so it’s less lurid than it appears.

And I’ll wrap up with one by Charles Schneeman

Double feature

Ace Doubles were cool. Two novels, back to back; rather than a front cover image and a back cover with text, they had two front covers. Sometimes the two books would be linked by having the same author. The books below are tied together plotwise as well.

Other books were simply two books with no connection. Here are two from one of the doubles. First by Ed Emshwiller.

Second by Ed Valigursky.

I will make a wild guess that no, both cover artists being named Ed did not constitute a connection in the publisher’s eyes.

Paperback covers for Wednesday

First a Richard Powers cover I’ve posted before.

Second, Jack Gaughan provides the cover for Part Two of Cordwainer Smith’s Norstrilia. Don’t like the look of C’Mell in the background but it’s otherwise cool.

Third, Wally Wood, better known for comics, provides

Fourth and last, one by Shannon Stirnweis

It’s the day after Christmas. Have some cover images

Didn’t feel like posting politics as I usually do for Thursday, so …

First one by the great Virgil Finlay.

An absolutely amazing one by Lawrence Stern Stevens.

Another one by Stevens,

And a Paul Lehr paperback to wrap up with.

Pulp covers that sell (they’d have sold me, at least)

Earle Bergey cover for what looks like an interesting story (which is precisely the look you want from a cover).

Mad science, sex, a woman in jeopardy — I think Walter Popp’s cover here has all the key elements.

Norman Saunders’ cover here works for me too.

And Milton Luros gives us a woman battling giant kale — but it clicks.
