Monday slapped me hard but I kept on going

During my drive down to Greenville for my Mensa weekend, one of the Warning! lights came on on the dashboard. Wasn’t anything I could do about it by that point and rushing it to an auto shop down there would hurt the warranty, so I sucked it up and waited until I got home.

Monday morning, I took the car in. Normally I stay and wait for the mechanics to get to work; this time I let them shuttle me home, which was good as it took Wednesday to get the part. Good news: covered by warranty and nothing serious (defective sensor going off).

Then when we gave Dudley his lunchtime latanaprost eyedrops (for glaucoma) we had to open a new bottle. Latanaprost stays in the fridge until opened — and I’d shoved it so far back, it had frozen. The vet confirmed that might erase its efficiency so I had to grab a Lyft down to the nearby office, then back with fresh drops.

Need I say, not a productive day?

We also got word that due to the costs of malware/hacking attack on The Local Reporter, we’ve run out of money for March and not much for April. So no stories this week and I only write two, at a much reduced pay rate, next month. Which I agreed to do because I think local papers like ours do provide a valuable service and I don’t want this to be the beginning of the end. I may even donate to their new fundraiser (if anyone’s inclined, you can donate from the PayPal button here).

I also didn’t post anything at Atomic Junk Shop — normally I do my blogging Friday and last Friday I was on the road.

I did get a chunk of work in on Savage Adventures plus I kept watching movies for Jekyll and Hyde. I was starting to worry that I’d fallen hopelessly behind schedule but I’m now confident I can view everything I need to watch over the next two or three months.

Oh, and Nancy Northcott, who handles the comics-related panels for Con-Tinual (the online con started by Gail Z. Martin) provided links to multiple panels (via Facebook rather than YouTube):Why Superman is under-rated.

The Justice Society of America.

Favorite villains.

Sidelined characters we miss.

Death and resurrection.

My Adventures With Superman. (my reviews here and here).

Superhero best friends

And in a final up note, someone bought a copy of Undead Sexist Cliches off Amazon. I wish I were so phenomenally successful that someone buying one of my books was barely worth thinking about but I’m not, so I do think about it. Thanks, whoever you are.
