First up, the retention pond behind my bestie Cindy’s house (my sister lives there too). Retention ponds are made to catch runoff, but this one turned out real pretty. It also attracted a lot of egrets during the storm, but I couldn’t get a good photo of them.
Non-photo fact: I started the week seeing if I could get around just using Lyft rather than renting a car. Given all the trips I like to take to different places, I think that was a mistake. However taking Lyft from the airport and renting in town would save money (I did rent a car eventually. Dad generously paid for it).
The birthday dinner itself was on the beach. A very non-vegetarian menu (my sister forgot I don’t do seafood) but the roast avocado was quite satisfactory, so we’re good.
Then a game of Goofy Golf. one of FWB’s classic attractions. It’s even mentioned in the excellent history of regional places to visit, Dixie Before Disney. In the hole below, you try to shoot it into the cyclops’ mouth. I think it’s modeled after the monsters in Seventh Voyage of Sinbad.
As I feel uncomfortable publicly posting photos of my family on the blog, that’s about it. Well, one more beach one, with sea oats.
