Did it!
For the first time since we got the dogs I actually squeezed forty work hours out of the week. Part of the credit goes to TYG for taking the dogs on morning walks (that’s an hour freed up right there) but I’m still very pleased.
I did my quota of Demand Media work, got about halfway through an unrelated freelance project (it came in at a rush deadline so I’ll probably have to finish up Sunday) and did my usual ton of movie watching. Yay!
The cumulative effect of forty hours plus puppy care was exhausting. But satisfying. And I’ve noticed when I finish the week with nothing left hanging, it’s much easier to relax on the weekend.
Plush and Trixie were unusually needy this week, periodically staring up at me with a Please, Pet Me! look. I suspect it’s because the work on the extra project meant I had my hands on the keyboard more than usual so they didn’t get as much stroking. Or possibly it’s just the amount of time I spent focusing on work instead of them.
I will, by the way, give you some free advice here: It’s good to stand up every so often (at least every hour) while working. At least at my age. Because sitting too long makes it very uncomfortable when I finally get up. This didn’t use to be an issue even when I was watching movies for my book. But when the dogs sit to either side of me, let alone on me, it’s so easy to decide I’ll stay put just a few more minutes … it adds up quickly.
