This week was surprisingly unproductive. And cold.
As I’ve mentioned, TYG sprained her ankle a week ago. By Monday, she was getting confident she could walk Plush Dog even with a sprain, but then Monday afternoon the snow began. We had ice all over our yard and it didn’t seem like a good idea for someone with a bum ankle to try walking on it, especially given Plushie’s propensity for tugging on the leash.
So I’ve been doing double dog-walking duty all week, which cut into my work time more than expected. Plus we had to pick up our new car (which we did today), so that took a little more time. And although TYG was home and able to sit with the dogs a lot, with the limits imposed by her clumping around in an air boot, I wound up helping out more than I usually do when she dog-sits. Throw in details such as a couple of heavy sessions of snow-shoveling, plus various stuff for Mum and this week was pretty much a wash.I did get plenty of movies watched, some Demand Media articles done and I signed a contract to include And He Bought a Crooked Cat to an anthology of repeatedly rejected stories. Still, I had thought I’d get more done.Having TYG home most of the week does make me aware how our use of the living room space has shifted since we moved in back in 2012 (I realize this may not be interesting to anyone else so if you stop reading I understand). When we first moved in, I used the armchair, TYG sat on the couch, when she was downstairs at all rather than her attic office (I likewise use my home office, except in evenings and weekends when I want to be close to her). Then she decided she liked the armchair because the side table is more convenient (it is). She started using that, i shifted to the couch. Then after we got the dogs, I still preferred the couch but she does too, because then the Plush One can sit next to her (too big to fit in the armchair). So we trade off at different times. And as a side effect, the coffee table now has her stuff and my stuff on it, which frankly makes it very cluttered (when it’s just one of us, it’s manageable). No deep insights on improving the use of the table yet, but I’m working on it.I’m really very tired of poor-performance weeks, but they still crop up with annoying frequency.(Cover art by Harry Anderson, all rights with current holder)
