Normally despite having a busy day yesterday, I’d have posted my week’s reviews. But yesterday was my writer’s group Christmas party, which TYG and I have hosted as long as there’s been one (only three years, it’s not that epic). So we had Costco in the morning, cleaning and cooking (cheeseball, mulled wine, apple crisp, homemade hummus) in the afternoon.
Which wouldn’t have been a major problem except when we reached Costco, we got an emergency call and had to go back home and help a friend. So an hour for help, 25 minutes back, 25 minutes to return to Costco … and presto, two hours of prep time gone. So everything was a scramble from then on.
But totally worth it. My writer’s group is my main social outlet here, and it’s really fun to play host. Published authors in the group include Bill Ferris, Ada David Bagwell, Ada Milenkovic Brown and M. David Blake (author of the deservedly acclaimed “Babel Fish.”). Heather Fredericks and Samantha Collins are both having their first stories out soon, in the M.David-edited Straion.
There were, at various points, discussions of politics, writing, personal lives, so what does your SO do, family, kids, more writing, computers, and everyone got to coo over Trixie when we brought her down (a couple of people got to meet the Plush One as well).
(Plush Dog. TYG’s description: “He looks like a toy intended for kids but bought mostly by ironic hipsters.”)
So I don’t feel too bad about not posting, sorry.
