Back in Durham

I’d planned a long, enthusiastic post about everything TYG and I did at the Mensa gathering, but no. Getting home has left me wiped, not least because I decided to cook dinner. I hadn’t planned to—we bought veggie burgers and other goodies so that we could have an instant meal this evening—but we had a dozen or so tomatoes ripen in our absence (not counting the few our house-sitter took for his own use, with our blessing) so I gave in and cooked (very tasty). Probably tomato soup tomorrow, too (TYG planted a lot of tomatoes, and it’s paying off. Fortunately we both love tomatoes).
So instead, a few lessons learned from traveling:
•After years of wearing a backpack, my back no longer enjoys it. Packing seven days worth of clothes was too much strain. I like my pack because I know I can squish it into space on any airplane overhead bin, but next year, I think it’s time to bring back the rolling suitcase.
•My iPad does make an adequate substitute for my laptop, at least in the short-term. I wouldn’t want to use it on a permanent basis, but given how much lighter it is, it’s good to know. And while I still prefer hard-copy books, the ebook Interface does make reading pleasant.
Still, I’m glad to be back on my MacBook Air.
Damn, were those the only two lessons learned? Looks like. Oh, well, see you tomorrow!
