Higgledy piggledy

Yep, another chaotic week for multiple reasons:
•I volunteered to organizing one part of the judging for a Mensa scholarship essay contest, which I finished this weekend past. Suffice to say, it was more time than I expected (and would probably have gone off the rails without my friend Matt and TYG helping with some judging). And yes, I know I should have expected that.
•Continuing to coordinate Mum’s first appointment with her new doctor (lots of records-transmission requests, working out transportation, etc.)
•Spent this morning with an out-of-town friend I haven’t seen since my wedding.
•Slept very poorly. I’m grinding my teeth when I sleep, so I’ve had to start wearing a tooth guard at night. It takes getting used to before I could learn to sleep properly with it in (seems okay now).
•And I had my usual mildly allergic reaction to the beginning of spring, so I had to spend most of this afternoon (after getting back from driving my friend around) lying around watching movies.
Plus I shifted my schedule around way much last week to squeeze in some extra Demand Media work, with an eye to making it up this week. Due to all the disorder, didn’t quite work.
Despite which I got the biggest job I had for this week done: Rereading my recent draft of Brain From Outer Space and the previous unsuccessful draft, getting a sense for what worked and what didn’t. As I thought, there are things in the old draft that definitely work better—the opening sets things up much better, for instance. And I can see the big problems with both versions: Not enough tension and no real plot movement in the discussion scenes. I’ll be replotting during April—the end result should be a combination of both versions.
And now, my Demand Media work:
