Having failed to convince Americans to reject the evil Kenyan usurper and Islamofascist sleeper agent Barack Obama, the Birthers are now threatening to impeach Justice Roberts if he swears Obama in, as it would violate the Constitution to swear in a non-citizen as president.
I’ve noted before that Birthers love to change the rules. First it was that Obama show his birth certificate, which he’s done. Instantly, that wasn’t enough: As noted at the link, one birther group has announced that only an eyewitness will qualify because documents can always be faked (anyone naive enough to think they’d believe any eyewitness who did come forward?). As that doesn’t seem to be swaying voters, the fallback tactic (not original but it’s picking up steam) is that you’re only a natural-born American if your father is an American citizen. This is presumably by the same school of Constitutional law that sees clear evidence the document creates a “Christian nation.” And the same logic by which the reasons gay marriage is legally wrong constantly change.
•When the United States invaded Afghanistan and Iraq, both neighbors of Iran, the Bush administration (and now Obama) made it very clear that Iran shouldn’t expect any say in our policies or activities there. When Iran opens new embassies in South America, the US responds by treating it as a security crisis (the article doesn’t help calm things down, asserting that “international observers” believe Iran is building a nuclear weapon but not pointing out there’s absolutely no evidence of that).
Seriously, having diplomatic relations with other countries, even countries near us, is not an act of war. It says a lot about our imperial mindset, though. Our government has declared Iran a pariah—the fact other countries are doing business with it is blatant defiance of our god-given authority over the entire world (we’ve had the same reaction to Hugo Chavez).
•Cyberattacks on utilities are growing.
And as I have some paperwork for a Mensa project to deal with, that will have to be all.
