Not the day I’d planned

We had a rough schedule when we went to bed. Bicycling in the morning, then Target (surge suppressor, bottles of hand soap, splatter guard for the microwave), then I intended to unpack for a couple of hours, then work.
Only it was drenching rain this morning, so I decided to unpack instead. And got swept away and spent much more time on it than I’d intended: Transferring some of my comics into the drawers downstairs, rearranging the other boxes so they’re not in the way (and I don’t have to lift too many if I want a comic in the bottom box of a pile). Rearranging bookshelves. Unpacking books and CDs. And some more kitchen stuff.
This left me with much less time for writing, which I started this evening and only just finished. But we did get in a great bike ride—it’s wonderful not having to squeeze them into the back of TYG’s car to get to the trail.
I’m really pleased with the work I’ve done arranging the kitchen, although it’s been a trade off: Fewer pots or pans buried under other pots or pans, but that uses up more space. We sent a lot of never-used pots and pans to Goodwill, but TYG also has an amazing assortment of fancy glassware I have to find space for (I’ve no idea where it came from).
My home office is very well set up, though there will be tinkering down the road. But the paperwork is all stored away, the trinkets and memorabilia are well displayed and reference books and printed manuscripts all have a place. I’m pleased.
Tomorrow I will hopefully find time to set up the TV and DVD player. I can watch streaming on my laptop, but it’s an Airbook with no disc drive, so no DVDs.
And seeing the time, I think I’ll stop there. Hopefully I’ll have time tomorrow for something more substantial.
