Another somewhat disorganized week. Dental appointment Tuesday (all good, except my teeth may be cold sensitive for some time), and today we’re cleaning for a house guest (college friend of TYG’s). Came out okay, though——lost one hour of fiction to the dental appointment, and one eHow short, so I feel pretty pleased.
I still felt vaguely fidgety, shifting my schedule around during the day to keep my energy up (adjust lunch hour, switch to fiction earlier than planned, whatever). I’m not sure if it’s that I’d like some nonfiction to work on besides eHows or just the general restlessness you get when you’re in a creative field. It’s natural when you’re doing well to start thinking about what you’re doing next——I’ve yet to meet a novelist who, having had a novel published, felt like they could quit and be satisfied. It’s on to the next exciting project … but I’m not sure what mine is yet.
I didn’t get anything done on Brain From Outer Space this week——my mind seemed determined to focus on shorts, and so I did. As noted yesterday, I finished Kernel of Truth and Mage’s Masquerade is looking good.
On the downside, five stories back this week. Two Saturday, two Tuesday, one this afternoon. One of them actually came back twice——I sent it out after it returned Saturday, then got it back Tuesday. Hmm, could it be I’d like something to sell to perk me up? Maybe …
