I was really looking forward to flinging myself into my work with renewed productivity once I got back.
Not so much.
In the first place, I was exhausted.
In the second place, there were little odds and ends left over that I had to attend to, like helping unpack the gifts we shipped back. And jobs I hadn’t got around to before leaving, like finding out why I hadn’t received my dental reimbursement (wrong address in the files, it seems).
And while I’d hoped for a stretch without any extra projects, I accepted a family obligation (my side, not TYG’s) that will keep me very busy next week.
As a result, I’ve been scrambling to do extra eHows, both during the week and today and tomorrow. And I’m unlikely to get any fiction done before the week after next as I won’t be able to work a full week next week.
That’s really frustrating. I know it doesn’t mean anything in the grand scheme of things but it feels like a gigantic stumbling block to finishing anything at the moment.
Oh well. Grace under fire or——or something like that.
And even given that, I’m still happier than I could possibly have imagined on this date three years ago (exactly two weeks before I met TYG). So I’ll survive.
Some days you hit the wall, some days the wall hits you—wait, that doesn’t sound quite right
