A pleasant surprise

This morning before work, I took a look at a short I’ve been working on, Kernel of Truth. To my surprise, it’s in good shape: The characters work, the concept is good, the plot is solid. All it really needs, other than tightening and cleaning, is a lot of foreshadowing so the clash of rival sorcerers at the climax doesn’t seem so out of the blue, and breaking up the exposition so it’s not all dumped at the finish (I may just leave a lot of it unsaid—I think what’s going on is clear enough readers won’t need everything spelled out).
On the downside, my sample chapter is moving much slower than I’d have liked. For whatever reason, I’m too easily distracted of late: I need to forsake my recliner and go up to my room more instead of trying to ignore whatever my roommate is watching (I usually can ignore it, but not the past few weeks).
