The first week of August went pretty well. Not as well as it should have—I was really slow writing my eHows—but I accomplished everything I really had to do:
•Finished and submitted Hunting Hidden Faces, the sixth story in the Applied Science series.
•Redrafted #7 and while it needs mucho work, it’s finally past the gut-clenching stage I mentioned in the previous post. All the stuff is there, I just have to polish it.
•Wrote a first draft of To Infinity and Beyond, the eighth story. Much to my surprise, this one fell into place easily–I think it’s going to be outstanding.
•Tinkered with #9, The Robot That Challenged the World. If I can figure out two plot points, it’s there (but—can I?).
•Worked a little on Brain From Outer Space.
•Submitted a query to Durham’s excellent weekly, The Independent. The editor said they’d be willing to listen if I had an idea, and I finally got one (for various reasons, I don’t think it’ll fly, but I might be wrong).
•Did 25 eHows, plus three or four relatively slight corrections.
•Read the new issue of BullSpec, a local SF/fantasy magazine. They turned down my first submission, but I’ve already submitted a second.
And now, here’s the latest eHow list. As you’ll see, heavy on the real-estate; it’s not just that it pays slightly more, but as I get more and more familiar with topics such as hazard insurance or deeds of title, the easier it is to write more articles on them (the biggest problem is making sure I add at least a little fresh information in each and don’t just clone myself).
