Living in a parallel world

Like most people, I’ve often thought about how life might be different if I’d done something different—two roads diverged in a wood, and all that. But the past couple of weeks, I can see that divergence more than ever before.
On the one fork, we have my old life, continued: Two weeks of working on the book, watching TV when I get up in the morning, lounging around weekend mornings, going to work at The Log.
On the other fork: A week of non-stop packing, then a week here in Durham, snuggling with TYG, working on writing during the day, sitting in bed reading in the morning until she wakes up.
Of course, the real divergence goes back to 2008 when we met at the Mensa AG, but still, the sense of alternatives (and having totally taken the right one) is very strong right now.
